Well, we finally had a weekend to hang out and enjoy our new place. Our goal was to have everything clean and put away by Friday, and we kind of did. At least we were satisfied enough to walk across the street with Preston and attempt to relax on the Uncle Billy's patio. (Did I mention it was 74 degrees here on Friday?) But Preston was super hyper and wouldn't quit jumping at the waiter every time he walked by, so I decided to run him back up the hill to the condo. This turned out to be a good thing because I ran into our super fun neighbor Teresa and her really good dog Buddy and told them Lacee was still down there waiting for me. When I got back, Teresa had joined the party and the three of us had a blast visiting and sampling Uncle Billy microbrews. We even added a 4th member when Teresa texted another friend who came down and joined us. It was a very "Austiny" kind of night on the patio under white strung lights and great big oak trees with a a fun-loving crowd who all took the time to pet and greet the mild-mannered Nebraska transplant Buddy. We can only hope that Preston can acclomate so well. It was a fun time and was really great to be able to walk home. Although we may have made a pit stop at P. Terry's burger stand for cheap burgers and fries on the way back...
Saturday was an equally beautiful day and I started it off with a morning jog around Town Lake (aka Ladybird Lake). We have run or walked around the lake a couple times now and I keep mapping different routes for distances. This time I jumped on the trail by Barton Springs and headed West across the Mopac Bridge back down and over the 1st St bridge and finished up back at Barton Springs. This was approx 4.25 miles. I saw a lot of Dad's with their BOB three-wheeled strollers and was insanely jealous. Our baby is going to be so Austin! I can't wait!
After errands and breast-feeding class we topped off the evening with dinner at Red's Porch on South Lamar with Ryan and Katelyn and new friend Teresa. Red's was a great choice. Complete with Washers and Shuffle Board, oh and a huge upstairs Porch! There seems to be no end in amazing places to eat and hang out in this town and this was the farthest out that we've ventured. We were probably 1 1/2 miles South of the house. Good times, good weekend! Now off to Ikea.
